Baaz Nahir is a Senior (Grade 12) at Degrassi Community School. He is an entrepreneurial millionaire trapped in the body of a 12th grade nerd. Baaz is a wunderkind who's always on the lookout for new business ventures. He's calculating and methodical, and hypothesizes all outcomes before throwing himself into situations. Because of this, he often lets logic get in the way of emotional connections and is only able to find and reconnect with his heart through his friends. He is the younger brother of Goldi Nahir, and is friends with Yael Baron, Vijay Maraj, Lola Pacini, and Hunter Hollingsworth. Baaz has conflicts with Maya Matlin and Grace Cardinal, whom he is currently attracted to. He is labelled as "The Hardcore Gamer". He was portrayed by Amir Bageria.
Character History[]
Degrassi: Next Class[]
Season 1[]
In #YesMeansYes, Baaz tells Hunter his no eye contact plan is genius, and maximizes their safety. He and his friends are concerned for Vijay when he is hit in the face, causing a nose bleed. They seem amazed when Hunter is about to take the shot for his team, but Hunter ends up scoring a point for the opposite team instead. He later seems happy when Tristan approves Hunter's idea for intramurals gaming.
In #ButThatsNoneOfMyBusiness, he, Yael, Hunter, and Vijay participate in the video gaming competition.
In #NotAllMen, he competes against another video game team with the gaming club, and they barely win. The video game club dresses up in cosplay, and makes a commercial to try and raise the money they need to go to Regionals. However, the club is shut down anyway due to complaints of misogyny and celebrating sexual violence, leaving its members upset. Vijay, Yael, and Baaz all agree to follow and help Hunter with his revenge because no one has ever fought for them before.
In #SorryNotSorry, Yael Baron, Baaz, and Vijay Maraj crack under pressure and confess to trolling Maya Matlin, but Hunter Hollingsworth shows no remorse for what they did to Maya.
Season 2[]
In #CheckYourPrivilege, Baaz and Vijay's "Brown Cloud" fart app is inferior to Yael's "High School Secrets" app, so they accept Baaz's bet: if their app gets more downloads than hers, they have to go on a date with him. While Baaz and Vijay's app is a hit, Yael's frustrated that theirs isn't. Baaz wins the bet when Yael decides they don't want to compromise their integrity for success and shuts down the app.
In #BuyMePizza, while Grace Cardinal is minding her own business, Baaz walks up to her and insults her appearance, saying that she looks like she's damaged and actively trying to avoid attracting men. Later, while scaring Baaz for his previous comments, Grace and Maya learn he was only saying those things because he was reading tips from a dating advice book.
In #RiseAndGrind, he tells Maya that he is Vijay's agent when she confronts Vijay for "stealing" her music. He informs Maya that because Vijay is only performing covers and has credited Maya completely for the songs, that he is not breaking any rules by posting the covers.
In #TheseAreMyConfessions, Baaz has finally decided to cash in on his bet from earlier in the season, so Yael reluctantly agrees to go with him to the keg party in the woods. When they tell Hunter about the date he has a "whatever" attitude, saying that Baaz is happy that "any dumb girl would go with him." In an attempt to make him jealous, Yael tells him they might kiss Baaz, but Hunter still pretends to not be bothered by Yael's date. At the party Baaz tells Yael to put their arm around him, and when they do he asks them to kiss him. Yael doesn't want to, but Baaz reveals he wants them to kiss in front of Grace to show that he's desired by girls. Baaz then admits that he never really had any romantic interest in Yael, and they call him disgusting.
In #OMFG, things reach a happier note as Hunter has planned a date with Yael at his house... until Baaz and Vijay crash it. Baaz is concerned about how their friend group would be affected if Hunter and Yael ever broke up, and the conversation turns to concerns that Hunter will snap again. When Baaz brings up the fact Hunter was in a psych ward and could end up in juvenile detention for the swatting, Hunter angrily tells everyone to leave.
Season 3[]
In #IWokeUpLikeThis, Baaz calls a meeting with The Gamer Club to discuss the viewership of their new all-inclusive vlogging channel. He has figured out that their audience is 90% male and says that they need to figure out a way to bring women to their channel so that they can see that they'd enjoy the other videos. He comes up with a plan for Yael to film videos about fashion, makeup tutorials, and nail art, much to Yael's dismay. Baaz insists that Yael needs to do the videos because girls will identify with Yael more than they would with any of the other vloggers. He hires Lola to teach Yael about the popular subjects.
In #WorstGiftEver, Baaz reminds Goldi Nahir that plenty of Muslims practice their faith without a hijab, which she wears by choice.
In #HugeIfTrue, Hunter plans on spending the evening with Yael, but that changes when Baaz and Vijay unexpectedly drop by. The guys decide to measure their penises and embarrassed to tell Yael what they're doing Baaz says they'd planned on watching porn together, and Yael forces them all to watch it together. Baaz goes off on Hunter, saying that Hunter thinks he's better than him and doesn't even realize how good his life is. Not only is Baaz jealous of Hunter, Yael is worried that the dynamics of her and Hunter's relationship have changed just because they're dating. Hunter won the contest, but he tells Yael to lie and say Baaz won so it'd made Baaz feel like he has something over Hunter.
In #Unsubscribe, after Zoë Rivas and Rasha Zuabi's date they almost run into Baaz at The Dot. Rasha's afraid he'll figure out they're on a date, so both her and Zoë sneak out separately.

In #BackToReality, at the bouncy castle, Yael and Lola Pacini get to skip the line and Baaz gives Yael his cotton candy, all because of how good their boobs look.
In #ILookLikeA, in All-Inclusive Vlogging HQ, Baaz, Vijay, and Hunter look over a group picture for the yearbook— in which Yael has armpit hair. Baaz notices and comments on it: “I had no idea Hunter had a taste for Wookie!” Vijay suggests photoshopping out Yael’s armpit hair, with Baaz claiming it’s the group’s reputation at stake. Later, Hunter shows Yael and Baaz the new yearbook pictures. “If you want a real shock, I haven’t been shaving my legs either,” she says, and Baaz says “Wow!” She storms off as Hunter glares at Baaz.
In #RollUpToTheClubLike, Yael and Baaz ask Maya for a new theme song, and when Maya says no, Baaz makes a comment about Maya being too mentally fragile— so Tristan volunteers her to do it.
In #Preach, Hunter and Vijay ask Saad Al'Maliki why he isn’t wearing a solidarity shirt, and Vijay even offers the one that he grabbed for Baaz. At the rally, Saad stumbles over his words after Baaz and Vijay turn the crowd against him.
Hunter and Baaz see Frankie Hollingsworth and Esme Song playing on top of Zig Novak, and Baaz asks incredulously– “Is this an orgy?”
In #FactsOnly, the episode opens with Yael, Hunter, Baaz, and Vijay trying to figure out what to do for the charity talent show. Yael talks to Baaz about how he was being sexist for thinking only guys can find farts funny, and while arguing her point, tries to follow him into the boy’s bathroom. They later ask Baaz and Vijay what’s wrong with Hunter, and Baaz asks them what’s wrong with them and gives a list of what’s been weird lately, capping it off with “Plus you don’t ever want to make out anymore.” “Wait, Hunter said that?” Yael asks, and Baaz confirms: “He was very distraught.”
In #GetYouAManThatCanDoBoth, Shay Powers and Frankie talk about Shay not going to prom and Baaz cuts in. “It’s simple economics. Tiny Bell got the milk for free, ergo he doesn’t need to buy the cow.” He says, convincing Shay that all Tiny wants is sex and he doesn’t want to drop big bucks on prom to get it.
In #Obsessed, Hunter tries to make plans to celebrate end of exams with Baaz and Vijay, who are volunteering at prom. He tries to hop on that, but Baaz shuts him down. At the prom, Hunter walks up to Yael, Baaz, Vijay, Lola, and Saad, who are volunteering.
