Jonathan Torrens (born on October 25, 1972) portrayed Shane McKay on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Torrens took the role of Shane McKay after Bill Parrot declined to reprise the role after playing it from 1987 to 1991.

Torrens was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. His sister is actress and playwright Jackie Torrens. He currently lives in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Jonathan was one of the hosts of Street Cents, a sketch show. In 1996, Torrens began a five year stint as the host of his own sketch/talk show Jonovision, for which he earned seven Gemini Award nominations, including Best Individual Performance in a Comedy Series and Best Comedy Series.

In 1999, on Jonovision he hosted the Degrassi Junior High Reunion episode which had live appearances from Pat Mastroianni, Stefan Brogren, Amanda Stepto, Cathy Keenan, Bill Parrot. Oddly enough, a few years later he would end up replacing Bill as Shane. The episode also had live appearances from Siluck Saysanasy, Nicole Stoffman, Dayo Ade, Darrin Brown, Rebecca Haines, Kyra Levy, Michelle Goodeve and last but not least; Dan Woods.

He also won an Atlantic Canadian Award in 1998 for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in the movie Beefcake. He was also in The Trailer Park Boys, Kids Are in Charge: Family Vacation, Pit Pony, The Joe Schmo Show, and many others. In October 2009, Torrens began hosting TV with TV's Jonathan Torrens, a comedic news magazine program broadcast on the TVtropolis network.
