Degrassi Wiki

The friendship between K.C. Guthrie and Connor DeLaurier began in the eighth season of Degrassi: The Next Generation. They met each other during their freshman year at Degrassi, along with Clare Edwards and Alli Bhandari in the gifted program. Their friendship hit a bit of a rough patch when both boys developed feelings for Clare, but Connor let K.C. pursue her in the end, as it was clear that she had feelings for K.C. The two, however, maintained a close friendship, up until K.C. moved to British Columbia in Season 12.

Friendship History[]

Overview[]

Connor first met K.C. when he walked into homeroom one morning to find that his usual seat had been taken by the new kid, K.C. The pair got along well at first, only becoming irritated with one another when both boys developed feelings for Clare Edwards. Eventually Connor stepped aside and allowed K.C. to pursue her without further interference. Connor was first to know that K.C. lived in a group home, and had a juvenile criminal record. Both boys were in Degrassi's Gifted Program, as well as the robotics team, the basketball team, and the academic quiz team. They remained friends throughout the next few years until K.C. moved to British Columbia in their junior year. Connor was one of the last people to see K.C. before he left Degrassi for the last time.

Season 8[]

In With or Without You, when the Degrassi students go on a camping trip, Connor and K.C. stick by each other. Before the trip, Connor tells K.C. about his moth collection before being teased by Johnny. That night, they go without Alli to collect nocturnal specimens which ends up being a snake. He decides to get revenge by letting the snake loose in Johnny's tent and K.C. joins in on the fun.

Later, the minor niners work on their robot in the hallway. Something goes wrong with the robot and Clare and Connor go up to it to troubleshoot when Connor suggests the problem is the tread on the claw. K.C. disagrees and says it's the arm and motor. They go back and forth until Clare asks why they're acting like idiots. Alli says it's because she hasn't decided who is taking her to the dance. Clare pauses and says she won't go.

In Touch of Grey, K.C. shows Clare how to shoot a basketball into a hoop during gym class. She says he's a good teacher and asks if he played basketball at his old school. Mr. Armstrong finds Reece and his friends throwing poppers at the ground. Reece is mad and fake-lunges at Connor. K.C. tells him to never mind those idiots. Connor and K.C. are playing basketball and decide to try out for the team. After K.C. is pushed to the ground during tryouts by Reece and almost fights back after Reece pushes him, he tosses the basketball rack aside and storms out. Connor finds out he lives at a group home and shows up. K.C. asks why he is there and Connor says he was worried because he was acting weird at practice, saying it's what friends do, proudly. K.C. says he doesn't have to worry because he's quitting. Connor asks if it's about Reece but K.C. says it's none of his business, saying it's time to go. As Connor turns K.C. asks him to swear he will never tell anyone where he lives and Connor slowly agrees but says he can't quit because K.C. is his only friend at the tryouts. K.C. agrees to not quit. Reece later tells Clare in front of K.C. about him living in a group home and why and K.C. gets mad when he finds out, causing him to confront Connor at the next basketball tryouts. Connor says he didn't tell Reece where he lives, but when he found out where he lived he realized it could scare Reece because K.C. had to have done bad stuff to get there. K.C. says that now everyone knows and Connor responds that he thought it would help and asks why it matters they know. K.C. clarifies that he doesn't want them to know why he lives there because they'll think he's a bad kid and when Connor says he's not, K.C. tells him to tell that to everyone else, like his old school, foster parents, the judge, and now everyone at Degrassi. Connor says he doesn't think that and his friends won't either because they know him. K.C. says maybe right now but when they find out they'll write him off. He shoves Connor a little and Connor storms off, hurt.

In Danger Zone, Connor tries to help Clare realize why K.C. is acting up and locks her in a closet with him.
