Space Awakening

Space Awakening (title a play on Spring Awakening) was a musical put on in Season 9 at Degrassi Community School. The idea for the musical came from Declan Coyne and Jane Vaughn, who were named producers of the play. It is said to be loosely based on Declan and Holly J. Sinclair's relationship.

Plot

The story is about Deedee, an alien girl played by Jenna Middleton, who visits Earth and ends up getting stuck and having to blend into high school. She ends up falling for Greg, a jock played by Peter Stone.

• In Love Lockdown (1), Space Awakening was nominated for multiple Grundy Awards and wins.
  • Clare wins the award for Outstanding Use of Sets and Props.
  • Declan wins the award for Best Direction for Space Awakening.
• Space Awakening is the only Degrassi play to win Grundy Awards.
• It is named after the musical, Spring Awakening.
