In Should I Stay or Should I Go?, Chris sends her a rose-a-gram, which implies that she also attends Degrassi Community School, as rose-a-grams were only sent to students in the building.
In Against All Odds, Chris and Emma Nelson are up on the DJ booth, Melanda angrily yells at him, while he has his arm around Emma. Removing his arm, Emma leaves while Chris and Melanda fight on the booth. Chris reveals he was "always in trouble" with Melanda.
In This Charming Man, Emma mentions to her mother Christine Nelson that Chris just broke up with Melanda and she's not willing to be his rebound.
