The relationship between Mia Jones and Nic occurred when Mia attended Lakehurst Secondary School prior to the sixth season of Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Nic and Mia used to date before Mia met Lucas Valieri, and became pregnant with their baby, Isabella. However, she soon found out about the beatings Nic took part in. She soon broke up with him after finding out about his violent personality.
Season 6[]
In Can't Hardly Wait, at the basketball game between Degrassi and Lakehurst, Mia and Nic run into one another. When she sees him, Mia looks down, and Nic makes the comment that Degrassi is now picking up other school's trash. Mia turns to leave, but Nic asks her if she ever figured out who the father of her baby is. Mia slaps him, which causes a riot to break out. J.T. Yorke ends up slapping Nic in the face with the mascot head, igniting the Degrassi vs. Lakehurst feud.
In What's It Feel Like To Be a Ghost? (2), Nic has declared war on Degrassi and specifically on J.T. Mia thinks it is because she and J.T. are dating, and Nic's jealously is the reason they formed a rivalry. But it proved to be false, as he soon called Mia a "dumb slut" in front of J.T. and said "he didn't care about her." J.T. agrees to a war with Nic, but Mia stops him. Nic, along with Johnny DiMarco, beats up Toby Isaacs instead as he left the school since J.T. bailed.
