Later, in Still Fighting It (2), Mrs. Stavros would give her son advice about messing up his chance with the girl he liked, not knowing that he was actually talking about Zane Park. She goes on to tell him to be himself and that eventually the "girl" would see him for what he is. Riley goes on to explain about Zane, but before he can, she stops him and tells him that it does not matter if the "girl" is not Greek, she just wants to have grandchildren.
In The Way We Get By (2), she is in denial about Riley's sexuality, and convinces herself Riley is just going through a phase. She tells him not to bother his father about the issue.
In Dirt Off Your Shoulder (1), it is revealed that ever since Riley tried coming out to her, she has barely spoken to him. When Riley agrees to meet with the daughter of one her friends, she is obviously happy and begins talking to him more.
In Dirt Off Your Shoulder (2), she attends Riley's 18th birthday dinner. She watches fondly as her husband talks about how proud he is of Riley. When Athena mentions that Riley has a "girlfriend", she looks happy and surprised, as she is seen smiling. When Zane interrupts Riley talking about his "girlfriend", she gives him an odd look.

Mrs. Stavros: "It sure looked like you weren't doing homework."

- Mrs. Stavros: "Don't bother your father with this."
Mrs. Stavros: "DON'T!"
