Marie 'Spirit' Synott played Margaret Matlin on Degrassi. She is a professional wheelchair dancer. Some sources say she was born with Spina Bifida, while others say she was born with Multiple Sclerosis, but she has been an inspiration to many wheelchair users whom she has shown that things like dancing are still possible. Spirit was able to walk until the age of 17 when her condition made the chair a necessity for her.
