Hello fellow users! The last few months of season 12 have been heart-breaking yet endearing, its definately in my top five favorites of the seasons. Now, let's talk about Zig. Everyone's opinion of him has been sharply divided ever since the kiss he and Maya shared in Doll Parts. It's been even more divided with Campell's suicide. Now after the kiss, I didn't like him too much. I mean, just a few episodes earlier, wasn't Zig madly in love with Tori and was willing to steal to please her? (writer's stupidity has struck again!) While Zig seemed like a selfish jackass for cheating on Tori and unintentionally provoking Cammy Bear to think he was just going to hold Maya down and he should just kill himself, he seems truly remorsful for his actions. He's apologized to Tori, and even though he likes her, he turned down a date with Maya because he knows she shouldn't get into a relationship until she gets better. I feel in a slow yet steady process, Zig has matured somewhat. He's learned to stop thinking of himself all the time (because let's admit it, some of our favorite characters like Alli, Manny and Emma had their really selfish moments.)
The thing is, the whole Zaya relationship seems to be looming around, even though it hasn't happened yet, it seems inevitable. I am torn between Yay or Nay. On the negative side, Zig cheated on Tori with Maya, and speaking from experience, if he cheated with you, who's to say he's not going to cheat on you. Cam's suicide complicates things further. With Maya being his girlfriend and being in love with him, and Zig trying to steal her from him (not to mention his final words to Cam.), this seems to be an automatic relationship failure. On the plus side, with the both of them having been affected by Cam's death, they could share a bond only the two of them could understand, and an unbreakable bond that rarely forms between two people. Is it going to take a LOT of work? Yes. Will it be easy? Hell no. But its amazing what two people can triumph over if they just commit. And in the end, they could form one of the most meaningful and strongest unions in Degrassi history. While I may (personally) never ship them for more than a platonic friendship, this might could work. Plus, they just have a certain chemistry that keeps you interested. Think about it. With Tori fixing to depart, we all are going to have to get used to the idea of Zaya. You gotta admit, the ship name is kind of catchy.
